Toughened resins in composites are utilised to reduce crack propagation and improve fatigue resistance. The simple way to describe a toughened system, is that they have microscopic rubberised particles in the resin, this reduces cracking through the absorption or energy. It is critical to get the matrix right for your lay-up and product design - we reached this through countless test rim lay-ups, coupon trials, lab and impact tests. We have been able to get our all mountain rim to outperform heavy duty DH aluminium rims.

The image above shows the same impact mass on two different rim samples vs. our BC rim (far left).
